Owner/Stylist
As the co owner of Fringe Hair Studio, I bring 30 years of experience. I started my early years as a platform artist, but quickly went into management. At my peak I was district manager with over 10 salons under my wings. Helping others reach their goals was always a passion. I dabbled in teaching stylists for a few years, but intimately I came back home to behind the chair.
My specialties include but are not limited to: curly hair, short precision cuts, perms and of course color. I have been using Goldwell for 25 years. In my personal opinion there is no finer color line. You will always get the exact same color, every time.

Dean Smith
Owner/Stylist
Dean’s beauty path has strong Texas roots that began with his mother. A family legacy of hair. He learned many of his skills from his mother from childhood. Dean’s approach to hairstyling is polish not fads. Since cosmetology school, he has specialized in working with only Goldwell color. He then passed those skilled to his daughter. A family of skilled, compassionate stylists.
Dean brings over 30 years of experience to Fringe Hair Studio. His specialties are precision haircuts, amazing hairstyles, and of course he is the “King of Blonde”.

Amy Todd-Kunkel
Sylist
Hello! I’m Amy Todd-Kunkel a professional Hairstylist and Permanent Make up artist. I started cutting hair when I was 14 and have experience with: Salon ownership, while having associates behind the chair. I’ve ran corporate salons, and cosmetology schools across the country.
Also, with consulting cosmo schools, distributorships and salons. I use the product line Keune behind the chair and Perma Blend for tattooing. My goal is to make you feel good about yourself from the inside out and

Kay Shapiro
Stylist
By focusing on creating the ultimate customer experience, Kay brings over 40 years of experience to her craft. Starting her career at age 17, she became one of the most highly sought after stylists in Charleston SC. Over the years, Kay has had a lot of accomplishments. From being a former platform artist with an Italian hair color company, an on location bridal stylist, her work assisting photographers in photo shoots, and servicing a select clientele. Kay’s scope of work includes precision hair cutting, blonding services, styling, texture, and other services. Kay may spend her days at Fringe, but it’s making clients feel great about themselves that gets her up in the morning.
When she is not at Fringe, Kay is an avid gardener and loves spending time with family.
